Testimonials

In coming to Badlands Baseball Academy the value of discipline was on display everytime the boys took the field. The effort put into each player with their post secondary and baseball dreams was outstanding and for that we are grateful. Listening to Aidan and what his goals are and advising him on viable post secondary options was truly a priceless part of the program. Living away from home can be a daunting experience, both for the young athlete pursuing their dreams and his family watching from afar, However, his billet family went above and beyond to provide him with a warm and supportive environment. Their genuine care and concern for his well being made all the difference in his journey. The community of Oyen and South Central High School were both warm and welcoming, making the players a part of the fabric of the community quickly. The small town was ideal for focusing on school, sports and forging lifelong friendships. The quality of education and overall investment into Aidan's education by teachers, coaches and staff was unmatched. The time spent at Badlands Baseball Academy will forever be a highlight for Aidan and the friends and memories made will not be forgotten.

Cam has had a wonderful experience over the past two years. He has grown, matured and learned about being out on is own. The billet parents Cam's first year Heather and Brian were there for the worse and best of times. When Jeff and I made our first visit to Oyen last year, Heather and Brian were very welcoming. Brian cooks a mean steak and Heather takes pride in her gift of stained glass. This year was no different. This year's billets Sherri and Jeff Robertson were welcoming, they could stay up for hours just chatting. They are lovely folks. I think Cam enjoyed the freedom they offered and curfew he respected (as far as I know). I still don't know how Sherri fed three growing boys. The Mom's and Dad's of the Badgers team are fantastic. Thank you for taking care of Cam when he needed it. The team mates, what can I say, second to none. They support each other when they are having a tough game or day. As for the coaches, Nolan is soft spoken but Cam has responded to that and Nolan holds him accountable for his mistakes. Zack has been a big support for Cam on and off the field. They have nicknames for each other which I find endearing. Others may not considering what they are. Tara is a wonderful addition to the team from the massaging sore muscles, to baking sweets for the boys. I am quite sure she got to know Cam well! What can I say we have all had a great experience due to the expectations of the program, school and community. Sincerely grateful to everyone who had a part in making Cam the person he is today.

My decision to go to Badlands was not an easy one; leaving my home and friends was very difficult. Having said that it has been the best decision of my life, the friendships I have made here will last a lifetime. The way the community embraces the Badgers is unlike anything I have ever seen. I am truly grateful for this opportunity to be a Badger.

In the summer of 2011 I was asked to be a part of a new program, to be a part of something great. I took this opportunity without hesitation. So there I was, 4 hours away from home, didn’t know anyone. Little did I know I was about to have one of the best years of my life. At first I just liked the idea of being able to play baseball every day, but as time passed and my passion for the game grew I started to develop a goal. Oyen and the Academy provided me with the perfect conditions to grow as an athlete and as a person. I can honestly say that the opportunities and support I received during my one year in Oyen was imperative to what I have accomplished today. Every person I met during my time in Oyen impacted my life in a positive way.

My experience with the Badlands Badger’s Baseball Academy allowed me to develop as a baseball player and to have the skills necessary to be successful. This is credited to the excellent coaching staff, great facilities, and the experiences that you attain as player. The expert knowledge offered gave me the opportunity to pursue a career in baseball past high school, along with skills that benefit me with the career path that I have chosen outside of baseball. The choice to join the Badlands Badger’s Baseball Academy is a great decision given the benefits they have to offer.
